Mission Statement

The subject of this blog will be the professional sporting world. I will be giving my views on some of the biggest sport stories as well as analysing different sporting teams and individuals. The sports that I will be analysing include Football, Rugby Union, Cricket, Golf and Snooker. These are sports which I have a strong interest in and ones I can write a sufficient amount of content on. The focus will be on Sport in Britain. I will look at British football leagues, British national teams, British club teams, British athletes and even the politics of British sport.

The reason I am writing about sport is because sport is what I love. I believe I can write posts on sport which will provide an enthralling and interesting read. Sport is my passion. When watching it, I feel the need to express an opinion, an opinion which I would like to be debated. This blog is the perfect way of doing this.

The posts will vary from straight forward opinion articles to unique features such as ‘Team of the week’. Some of the blog posts will be serious whilst some will be for more entertainment purposes. I will tackle some of the burning sporting issues in an entertaining way with elements of light-hearted comedy. My aim for this blog is for it to be controversial yet not overly critical of our national sport. I am more than prepared to give praise when praise is deserved but at the same time I will not be afraid to dish out criticism when I do not agree with something.

My target audience for ‘The Competitive Edge’ is those with a passion for sport. I hope to cater to those who seek a more in-depth view of professional sport. During my time at university, I have spent a lot of time discussing sport with my friends. From that experience, I model the undergraduate student as the perfect target audience for this blog.

There’s certainly enough interest and substance to keep this blog going as there is always new interesting sporting developments to discuss. I hope to differentiate from other writers in the field by mixing up the format of a post and adding a comic yet controversial feel to proceedings.
